One summer in Cape Town, a photographer friend told me about his dream to shoot a sports campaign for NIKE someday. It made me realize that I had never really thought about having a specific photography goal for myself. So, I started pondering who I’d choose to photograph or work for if I could pick anyone or anything in the world.
It didn’t take me long to have an answer – Emma Watson. Ever since I began planning professional photoshoots, Emma Watson’s images seemed to grace every mood board I created. Not because I was a superfan or had any personal connection to her, but because, in my quest for inspiration, her photos consistently set the standard. She had worked with some of the world’s best photographers who inspired my creative passion right from the start.
But I digress; that’s a little backstory about how Janaina and I came to work together.
One night, while out at a street party in Cape Town, I noticed a woman across the bar. From certain angles, she bore an uncanny resemblance to Emma Watson. Of course, I knew it wasn’t Emma herself, but it felt like the universe aligning with my photography goal. So, I approached her and asked if she’d be interested in a photoshoot in the coming days. She agreed, and we arranged a session on the beach.
Fate couldn’t have scripted it better. The sky was draped in clouds, creating a moody atmosphere and light that no planning could have replicated.
Now, what’s your take? Do you see the striking resemblance to Emma Watson in some of these shots?
